Overview

Senior EC&I Design Engineer

This is a truly great opportunity for a Senior EC&I Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation working within a multi-discipline design team on the production of designs for plant and equipment. The company is involved in the full project life cycle from concept design through to manufacture and commissioning, primarily, but not exclusively for the nuclear industry.

The role

The key focus of the Senior EC&I Design Engineer will be to provide, or deliver, engineering conceptual and detailed design, drawings, modelling, calculations, and technical solutions for a variety of bespoke equipment designs and will be able to work from a detailed brief during all product stages including initial research, product development, detail design and prototyping, through to final ‘First Article’ manufacture and on-going support.

The team is close knit and projects require a good understanding of other disciplines. You will liaise with other members of the team including project managers and engineers, mechanical and electrical designers and the commercial functions so exceptional communication skills at all levels and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team are essential.

You’ll be producing functional design specifications, engineering documentation, Operation and Maintenance manuals and test documentation so a keen attention to detail is critical. Experience of electrical installations, instrumentation, IEE regulations, PLC systems and drive systems will be highly advantageous, as will working within a highly regulated environment.

About you

If you would like to be considered for this varied and challenging Senior EC&I Design Engineer role you will be able to demonstrate a proven EC&I Engineering background and be qualified to a minimum ONC (plus time served), ideally Degree level, or above in an EC&I Engineering discipline.

You will ideally demonstrate significant experience in a high technology or industrial sector of electrical and/or control and instrumentation design developing and delivering design solutions in the highly regulated nuclear sector for projects located on Nuclear Licenced Sites. You will be experienced with AutoCad and be skilled in report and specification writing. Experience of low voltage equipment and manufacturing and installation of electrical control systems is essential.
