The role
Working within an experienced fabrication team, the Welder/Fabricator role entails the review of engineering drawings to produce large bespoke, and sometimes complex, fabrications to meet the quality standards expected from nuclear sector specifications. The work itself is interesting, and often challenging requiring solutions to very unique problems that are often found within the sector.
Your day to day will involve the generation of reports, information and supporting documentation for contractors and sub-contractors, as well as internal stakeholders such as Project Managers, the Design Team, Estimating, and Production leads.
Quality is paramount within the nuclear sector and the role will also require some oversight across the contractual quality and schedule requirements of clients.
About you
- You’ll have a fantastic attention to detail and have worked on heavy duty bespoke fabrications , maybe into a regulated sector.
- Be qualified to City & Guilds Fabrication & Welding, NVQ or proven time served in a similar environment.
- CCNSG Passport to safety would be desirable but is not essential
- Have experience of fabricating and welding heavy plate, light gauge sheet metal, and pressure vessels using various materials.
- Working to EN ISO 287 and EN ISO 9606
- Hands on experience with press brakes, guillotine and powered rolls.
- Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Have a working understanding of quality assurance systems
- Be proficient in the welding and fabrication of stainless and carbon steels using TIG, MIG, MAG and FCAW procedures.
- Have an understanding of welding symbols, machining allowances and tolerances.
