Atomic Talent are proud to be representing a long established and successful engineering organisation in their search for a Supply chain / Purchasing Manager to work within their manufacturing headquarters based in Lancashire. The role is a great opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to implement their knowledge and management skills and help develop new strategies and models and truly be a part in shaping the company’s future.
What’s it all about
As Supply Chain Manager Manager, you will be responsible for implementing a risk based approach to procurement and supply chain management. You’ll locate and maintain the best sources of supply for components, materials and sub-contract services that the company needs.
You will be utilising performance management techniques in order to deliver cost effective solutions to fulfil the company’s project requirements in terms of cost, quality and delivery and will ensure effective and positive communications and relationships exist between the Company its Subcontractors and its Clients.
What will the role be responsible for?
- Managing the selection and assessment of suitable suppliers on the basis of technical, cost, quality, delivery, health & safety and environmental performance for all aspects of manufacturing and services.
- Ensuring goods and services are procured at competitive prices that represents best value for money to Company (assessment of VFM to include delivery, quality, cost service, etc) to assist the company in achieving its business plan objectives.
- Monitoring, identifying and communicating potential / actual problems that could impact on supply chain costs and delivery performance.
- Ensuring that where remedial action is required by suppliers that it is achieved in a timely manner and at the supplier’s expense.
- Coaching and mentoring of procurement personnel to ensure continuous professional development.
- Provide Junior procurement personnel with the necessary guidance and support to enable them to achieve their objectives.
- Continually investigate current systems and methods, with the objective of improving efficiency and achieving cost reductions, while still maintaining the standards required by the company.
- Identify new sources of supply, creating opportunities to assist in obtaining a competitive advantage when bidding for future work, utilising all available market, supplier and component knowledge.
- Ensure that Terms and Conditions of contract are applied appropriately to the relevant suppliers whether these are internal standards or conditions and/or Client flow down conditions.
- Participate in client / contractor meetings.
- Develop and maintain a suite of Procurement procedures to provide a Project Life Cycle that will bring together modern procurement techniques in alignment with Industry Best Practice.
About you
- Have an understanding or client quality documentation requirement inc. ISO9001:2000
- Have experience of engineering or manufacturing
- Proven management experience and the ability to lead and inspire others
Skills/Qualifications
- Chartered member of The Institute of Purchasing & Supply Management
- Degree qualified or with relevant experience
